RTBF has published an article previewing the upcoming documentary Notices rouges: la face cachée d’Interpol, which investigates structural flaws and politically motivated misuse of INTERPOL Red Notices.

The article draws from the documentary’s findings and includes commentary from legal practitioners featured in the film, including Charlie Magri, who observes:

“Once a person has been arrested on the basis of a Red Notice, cancelling the notice alone won’t guarantee their release—at that point, it’s up to the national authorities to decide what happens next.”

The piece recounts emblematic cases, including the prolonged detention of Sea Shepherd founder Paul Watson and a Belarusian democracy activist held on politically fabricated charges, and raises concerns over the scale of the issue.
