INTERPOL Data Access Request
Our Services: INTERPOL Data Access Requests
Individuals may submit an INTERPOL data access request to confirm whether their personal data is recorded in INTERPOL systems.
Otherside represents clients before the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF), preparing CCF-compliant access requests and managing NCB restriction issues that can limit disclosure.
Where the CCF response suggests grounds to act, we advise on follow-on steps, including deletion requests.
How an INTERPOL Data Access Request Works
A request for access is examined by the Commission for the Control of INTERPOL’s Files (CCF). The procedure is written, confidential, and follows a defined sequence from registration to decision.
01
Submission of the Request
We prepare and file the access request with the CCF on the applicant’s behalf. The request must be in an official INTERPOL language, signed, and supported by valid ID and a power of attorney. An access request does not need to be motivated.
02
Consultation of the National Central Bureau (NCB)
Once admissible, the CCF consults the NCB (or other source of data) before communicating information to the applicant. The source may request restrictions under Article 35. We prepare the file with this stage in mind, framing the request to reduce avoidable restrictions and maximise the chances of meaningful disclosure.
03
Timeframe for Decision
Under Article 40(1) of the CCF Statute, the Requests Chamber must decide within four months from the date the request is declared admissible. Extensions should be exceptional and reasoned. We monitor the file and follow up on delays linked to NCB consultation.
04
Communication of the Response
The CCF issues a formal response. Where it is authorised to do so, it confirms whether data exists and may communicate details of data recorded in INTERPOL’s files. If restrictions apply, communication may be limited under Article 35(1). We review the wording carefully, including where communication is restricted.
Our Approach to INTERPOL Data Access Requests
We handle access requests with procedural accuracy and strategic follow-through.
Each request is prepared to meet admissibility requirements and to reduce the risk of avoidable delay.
We monitor communications and timeframes under Article 40, and we interpret the CCF response, including restricted language, to assess whether a deletion request or other CCF step is warranted.
